About THE Ranch
Location
Moose Head Ranch is located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, which at the far north-west of the state, near the Idaho border.
The ranch is surrounded by Grand Teton National Park, providing our guests with a panoramic vista of the Teton Range. Many rivers and creeks weave their way through the rugged landscape and the region is home to a diverse mix of flora and fauna. All in all, such features ensure there is a never-ending list of things to do and see.
Ranch visitors could nip off to Grand Teton for a while or visit Yellowstone which is less than an hour's ride to the north. The Bridger-Teton and Shoshone National Forests lie a short distance to the east.
Here at Moose Head Ranch, we really are in the heart of it all.
History
In 1925, the year Moose Head Ranch was homesteaded, Jackson Hole was a land of pioneers and ranch families who worked hard to live in such a pristine place.
The Ranch was purchased in 1967 by John Mettler and is now in the capable third generation hands of Chris and Lindsay Davenport, who grew up on the ranch and are now following their parents, Louise and Kit, who are retiring after many years. Eddy Edmiston also grew up at Moose Head, and has taken over the ranch manager position when his father, Dave, retired after 37 years.
For both management and guests, there’s something about this dude ranch that gets in your blood and keeps you coming back... again and again.
GOAL
Unlike other guest ranches, Moose Head Ranch is privately owned and family operated so, as you can imagine, family is very important to us.
We believe in family vacations and, for us, this means you ride and eat with your children. Activities here are fun for all ages and are completed at a pace that you are comfortable with.
Ride with your loved ones and see elk, bison, mule deer, moose, and antelope up close. Hike our trails and witness breath-taking views. Swim, fish, play games, or just lounge and relax.
Our objective is to help you and your family unwind and bond without the usual stresses of life getting in the way.
